Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie, born under the sign of Gemini on June 4, 1975 to actor Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand in Los Angeles, California. She is an award winning actress, stunning beauty and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency.

Her acting awards include three Golden Globe Awards, an Academy award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. One of the most beautiful women in the world, she also models for some of the highest fashion magazines and leads a much reported life in the media.

Currently married to actor Brad Pitt, whom she met in 2005 while they were filming Mr & Mrs Smith, they travel with a brood of seven children, including her first adopted son Maddox Chivan from Cambodia and three of their own children, Shiloh Nouvel and the twins Knox Léon, and Vivienne Marcheline. The couple, named by the press as Brangelina have also adopted other children including Pax Thien, and Zahara Marley.

Her humanitarian work began in Cambodia when she first learned of the world wide humanitarian crisis. She then learned from the UNHCR of the trouble spots in the world and began visiting refugee camps around the world to learn more about the situation. She visited Tanzania and Sierra Leone and again Cambodia. She covered her own expenses when visiting the world’s trouble spots and lived in the same conditions as the UNHCR staff on her visits. When the UNHCR made an emergency appeal for donations, she donated $1 million for Pakistan refugees from Afghanistan. In 2001, the UNHCR made her Goodwill Ambassador, a role which she has continued to take very seriously.

She began her career as a model and then moved on to star in her debut role with her father Jon Voight in Looking to Get Out (1982). In 1993, she had a role in Cyborg 2. Her first starring role was in the movie Hackers in 1995 and in 1997, George Wallace and Gia in 1998. Gia was her first starring role where she came to the attention of the world. In 1999, she won Best Supporting actress at the Academy Awards for her role in the film Girl, Interrupted. Her fame grew further when she played Lara Croft, a video game heroine in Tomb Raider in 2001. She has made many films since then and we will discuss further on this blog her films, her humanitarian work and her very public life which Angelina Jolie handles with grace and charm.
